![]() Though it was a bit long in the tooth when it finished its fifteenth season, we all need to thank Supernaturalfor a horror television renaissance. Also, given that these stories are based (loosely) on real events, you might just learn something, too. While both seasons are a bit slow in introducing their horror elements, this aspect really allows viewers to invest themselves in the cast and the situations. They only add to the fear, with the first season intently centered on survival and the second on the cruelty of humanity. In the first season, a British exploratory vessel named the Terror gets trapped in the ice in search of the Northwest Passage as they attempt to survive the harsh winter, a mysterious creature begins to pick them off one by one. Each season of this series, the second titled The Terror: Infamy, takes place in a different time period. Bringing together historical fiction and supernatural horror seems like a tall task, but The Terror, based on the book by Dan Simmons, does it masterfully.
